Bio:
John is a partner at the firm and focuses his practice on four main areas: estate planning and administration, real estate, corporate law, and tax law. As an estate planner, John has helped hundred of clients prepare themselves and their loved ones for the future. He works with his clients to create individualized plans to help them protect their assets and minimize tax exposure. He also works with clients who need last wills and testaments, trusts, powers of attorney, living wills, and other types of estate planning documents to effectuate the client’s intentions. As an estate administrator, John helps families who have suffered the loss of a loved one navigate their way through Connecticut’s complex probate court system and see that their loved one’s assets are distributed in accordance with their will, or if no will, in accordance with Connecticut’s intestacy laws.
John is also an experienced real estate lawyer. He has represented buyers, sellers, and lenders in all types of real estate transactions, from the single-family residential purchase and sales or refinances to complex commercial transactions. John’s knowledge of corporate and business law is equally impressive, and he frequently assists business owners and corporate officers in many different transactional and advisory situations.
John joined the firm after graduating from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1983 where he was chairman of the Moot Court Board and winner of the Moot Court Board Competition. In 1991, John he received his Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University. John received his undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut in 1983, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He is a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity Board of Trustees, the secretary of the Delta Chi Housing Corporation, and a member of the Order of the White Carnation.
John is member of the Connecticut and Hartford County Bar Associations and serves as Chairman of the Trusts and Estates Section of the latter association. He is also a commissioner of the Downtown Manchester Special Services District, a lector at the Church of Saint Matthew in Tolland, and a member of the By-Laws Committee of the Westerly Yacht Club. He resides in Tolland with his wife, Susan, and two daughters, Emily and Megan.
